Nokia Lumia Battery Dies Quickly

Nokia Lumia batteries that discharge quickly are usually caused by excessive power demand from processes, heavy internet browsing, gaming, poor signal, and poor reception. Ensure that phone reception is good. Fortunately, there are a number of solutions to optimize battery performance.
1. Charge Battery Fully charging the battery fully helps the Windows Phone manage its peak performance longer.
2. Nonessential Applications Go into settings/applications/ background tasks and see what is running. Turn off nonessential applications and services such as Facebook and WhatsApp, Bluetooth, Cortana, Internet Explorer, WiFi, NFC, location service, synchronization settings, and battery saver. To exit apps, press the Back key so that the apps do not leave inoperation in the background.
3. Battery Saver Shortcuts Ironically, battery meters are one of the biggest culprits when it comes to draining the battery because they will only update when the saver is OFF or when you set to "conserve battery when low," but until that time they cause more drain on the battery than Pandora, Nokia Music, Bing Weather, MSN News and My Stock Portfolio (live during trading hours) combined. Battery apps are hidden sneaky draining apps. Unlike Battery applications that update the battery percentage every 30 minutes, shortcuts cannot view this percentage on the home screen. However, this information is still accessible through battery applications without unnecessarily draining the battery.
4. Mail Syncing Set email to refresh every 30 minutes and only pull email for the last 7 days (as opposed to all of it) By the way, it's been discovered that for some phone models, the Gmail syncing is a huge battery drain, no matter what interval you set it to. Delete that account for a day, and see if it makes a difference. If it does, just forward your Gmail to your Outlook email account from the Gmail website.
5. Display Settings Adjust screen brightness to low, switch off double tap to wake up, decrease lock screen and set screen time-out as 1 minute.
6. Updates Ensure that the Operating System and all applications are up to date because any rouge application may cause a battery drainage problem.
7. Wireless Service Other main causes of excessive battery drains (aside from playing games and heavy internet browsing) are poor GSM signal and poor WiFi reception - these two increase the power demand for the GSM antenna and the WiFi antenna, causing battery drain. Change 3g to 2G in mobile network settings whenever it is unnecessary, disabling scanning for new Wi-Fi networks and mobile data when not needed.
8. Reset A simple restart (powering the device on and off) or soft reset (pressing volume down and power buttons together until it reboots) may be useful if a process was stuck running in the background. As a last resort, a factory reset may also be useful, however, it will erase all personal content. Backing up sensitive information is recommended.
