“Fast and relatively easy with the appropriate tools”

Similar to other Nokia Lumia models, the 521 has a simplistic design and screen that may be detached from the LCD. This is fortunate because phones with fewer components are typically easier to reassemble than those of greater complexity. In addition, screen repairs are much cheaper because it is possible to repair most cracked screens by switching the glass alone, unlike devices where the LCD is glued to the glass such as the Apple iPhone 5s, where the entire front assembly must be replaced for a small crack.

The LCD repair process for the Nokia Lumia 521 takes roughly half an hour to complete. It is relatively straightforward, very similar to the screen repairs for the Nokia Lumia 635, as our repair technicians conducted minimal research. The disassembling basically consisted of unscrewing bolts and separating broken glass. The only really tricky parts involved unscrewing the bolts, separating the clips, and removing the glass fragments from the frame after heating the glue around broken screen. Most of these issues may be mitigated by purchasing the right equipment. We strongly recommend buying higher quality screw drivers specifically because the bolts strip very easily.

It is also important to be mindful of the glass fragments, as these may become hazardous if handled improperly. Just as a reminder, it is also helpful to develop a system for organizing the screws. The device does not have many, but finding the right sizes can become tedious. A well lit, ventilated room with a clear counter top is ideal for preventing unwanted dust and containing parts. The process should go smoothly. The one difference between the aftermarket LCD and the original is the inscription of the connector. Beyond that they are not possible to distinguish once installed, as the functionality and exterior design are the same.
